RICOCHET by Thananant Jongkolrattanaporn

Resortwear brand RICOCHET draws inspiration from nature, travel, freedom, and everything in between. All of its creations aim to inspire women to wear pieces that empower them to freely express their personality, soul, and mind. To achieve this mission, the team is always searching for alternative beauty ideals. The label’s lifestyle is rooted in freedom in its many forms: free-spirited, free-form, and free of rules. While traveling, whether to a deserted city or oceans away, the team absorbs inspiration everywhere that goes on to inform the designs. RICOCHET is a vibe, inspired by special and beautiful moments collected from these travels. Through traveling and storytelling, the brand creates and shares experiences of style.

Wei Lin of PH5

"My designs are inspired by the energy that I felt when I traveled to a specific place. When the vibe is right, I form a deeper connection with the place, and it encourages my imagination to push boundaries and draw every special moment into a piece. This exceptional feeling is what we want other women to feel. With the RC girls community, we want to create and share experiences of style through unique traveling stories.   "

Mini Interview with Thananant Jongkolrattanaporn

Tell us about your passion for fashion, how and when it started?
Before Ricochet, my style was heavily influenced by vintage fashion from when I studied in the UK. It was after I graduated that I became passionate about traveling. I got inspired by new things from places I've visited and created the brand, Ricochet. My favorite destinations that inspired me over and over would be Greece, Jaipur, Bali, Turkey, and islands hopping in Italy. The experience was unlike any other: the open-spaced resorts, the reconnection with nature, the diverse, unique, and rich cultures and festivals, architecture designs, and the little things in every journey formed a spark in me. That is when I transformed my inspirations and feelings from traveling into the designs of Ricochet, a fashion sense that speaks to the free-spirited, inspired, and bare soul.

Some of your collections are named after different locations around the world, how do you find that inspiration?
My designs are inspired by the energy that I felt when I traveled to a specific place. When the vibe is right, I form a deeper connection with the place, and it encourages my imagination to push boundaries and draw every special moment into a piece. This exceptional feeling is what we want other women to feel. With the RC girls community, we want to create and share experiences of style through unique traveling stories.

What kind of emotions you would like to convey to your customers through your collections?
I want my customers to feel the freedom to express their personality, soul, and mind when they wear my collections. To feel serene wherever they travel and inspired with awe of their journeys.

What cause is particularly important for you?
Environmental sustainability. I believe that to live a positive quality of life, one must strive to be more eco-friendly which is why I am working towards it personally and through my brand. At Ricochet, we are always working towards our goal to becoming more environmental-friendly by mostly sourcing eco-friendly fabrics including 100% natural linen and organic cotton, which are sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable. We also prioritize to ensure that all parts of our production are safe and support the positive well-being of our workers.

What is your dream country to visit?
Egypt

Vintage or new?
I love shopping for vintage accessories and adding that extra flair to my clothing. Some of my favourite pairings would be textured crinkle linen outfits with vintage embroidered shoulder bags from the Istanbul market I found last summer.

When are you the most inspired?
I feel most inspired when I reminisce about special moments in my journey of traveling, like when I traveled to Greece. I can still feel the sea breeze, see the shadow of the trees hitting the white walls, and hear the music play lightly in the background, and in moments like that, my soul feels a spark of inspiration and freedom.

What song can you listen to on repeat?
Something Wonderful by Fakear, Ana Zimmer

What makes you smile the most?
The little things in life that we tend to overlook, such as the smell of coffee in the morning, the terracotta sunrises and sunsets, the sound of raindrops.
