FROM NEW YORK TO PARIS: DESIGNERS TO DISCOVER
Kicking off the season in style, September began with New York Fashion Week 2022 and will close in the French capital. Explore our picks of DOORS NYC’s transatlantic labels from NYC to Paris.
PH5 | NYC
Wei Lin, founder of experimental knitwear label PH5, grew up in a family of a large textiles manufacturer which informs her eye for process and innovation. Marrying fashion and technology, she puts an unconventional twist on color-blocking sweaters, dresses and cardigans — reworked with distorted patterns and asymmetric hems. Shop PH5 here.
Y/PROJECT | Paris
Y/PROJECT’s founder and Royal Academy of Antwerp graduate Glenn Martens explores Postmodernism by pushing the boundaries of design, subverting sweaters and denim jackets with cutouts and sculptural wire inserts. An eclectic fusion of avante-garde streetwear and wardrobe staples for all genders. Shop Y/PROJECT here.
PRIVATE POLICY | NYC
Runway regular PRIVATE POLICY centers its collections around social topics and this season’s pieces pave the way for New York Fashion Week street style in 2022 and beyond. Sporty staples, such as tank tops, hoodies and cargo pants feature signature cutouts and harness straps, permeated with Y2K energy. Shop PRIVATE POLICY here.
MARINE HENRION | Paris
Looking to significant style decades of the past, sustainable designer MARINE HENRION fuses the ‘60s Space Age era with ‘90s minimalism, and the result is futuristic fashion punctuated by clean lines and muted palettes. Each collection is made in small quantities in French family-run factories using eco-conscious materials. Shop MARINE HENRION here.
NATIVA | NYC
Ana Maria Echavarria — founder of NATIVA bags — works with local artisans from her native Colombia, who weave each bag by hand from vegetable-tanned leather, a specialist dyeing method that uses natural tannins. The label’s tasseled cross-body bags, totes and clutches come in earthy and bright colors inspired by Latin American landscapes. Shop NATIVA here.
YVETTE LIBBY N'GUYEN PARIS | Paris
Bridging Asian and European cultures, YVETTE LIBBY N'GUYEN PARIS explores nostalgic narratives through a modern perspective. Expect vintage-inspired tailored coats reworked in sheer PVC and faux fur — all infused with the elegance of bygone eras. Shop YVETTE LIBBY N'GUYEN PARIS here.
ROTTMAN NYC | NYC
Exploring his queer roots, young designer Noah Rottman informs his collections with the maximalist glamor of drag queens and club kids in 1980s New York and believes everyone deserves to feel empowered to dress up, whatever the occasion. Think glitter-drenched separates married with lace and faux leather. Shop ROTTMAN NYC here.
