"Tailoring gives me the opportunity to play with structure, silhouette and femininity at the same time, which is at the heart of LIZ SKORSIS."
What's your favorite thing about being a fashion designer?
Seeing an idea come to life, and ultimately seeing what it does for a woman. I love having the freedom to design and express my vision through clothing. From discovering a beautiful fabric and developing the silhouette, through to seeing the final garment come together. But the most rewarding moment is seeing a woman put on a piece and watching her confidence change. When she feels powerful, feminine and completely herself, that's what makes the process worthwhile.
What's your favorite type of clothing to design?
Statement jackets and tailored pieces. There is something incredibly powerful about a beautifully constructed jacket. The way a strong shoulder, a defined waist, or an unexpected detail can completely change how a woman carries herself. Tailoring gives me the opportunity to play with structure, silhouette and femininity at the same time, which is at the heart of LIZ SKORSIS.
How do you balance creativity with wearability in your designs?
For me, creativity and wearability should never compete, my designs bring them together. I love creating strong silhouettes with unexpected details, while ensuring each piece feels comfortable, confident and beautiful to wear. Wearability comes down to fabric, fit and quality, and these remain at the heart of every design. The fabrics I select help shape the vision for each piece, while careful attention to construction and fit ensures the silhouette sits beautifully and moves as intended. The goal is to create something that makes an impact when she walks into a room, while giving her the confidence to own the room once she's there.
How do you stay up-to-date with fashion trends?
I don't design by following trends. Trends don't align with the values of LIZ SKORSIS, where exclusivity, limited production and timeless design are at the heart of the brand. I work with carefully sourced deadstock fabrics, which are available only in limited quantities, allowing each design to be produced exclusively and in small numbers. Rather than designing for a season or a trend, I focus on creating distinctive pieces that feel relevant, feminine and enduring.
How important is sustainability in your designs?
Sustainability is an important part of the LIZ SKORSIS philosophy, focusing on how our fabrics are sourced and our garments are produced. I work with carefully sourced deadstock fabrics, only available in very limited quantities, which naturally means each design can only be produced in small numbers. For me, sustainability is about being intentional, creating fewer, beautifully made pieces that women will value, wear and keep for years to come.
