"Design is not the act of creating images, but the act of solving problems."

STARSICA MODULAR
MINI INTERVIEW

What’s your design philosophy?

STARSICA MODULAR begins with a clear definition: clothing is a device. Rather than treating garments as decoration, I design clothing as a structural interface that mediates the body, space, and behavior. Each piece is developed as a functional system, where form naturally emerges from use, movement, and construction logic.

How do you begin a new collection?
Every collection begins with a structural question rather than a visual theme. I start by defining a functional or physical problem, then design modular or joint-based systems to address it. Through prototyping and wear testing, the structure is refined repeatedly, and the aesthetic emerges as a result of this process.

What do you think is the most important skill for a fashion designer?
The ability to think structurally. I believe design is not about trends, but about shaping how things operate within the body, everyday life, and culture. Design is not the act of creating images, but the act of solving problems.

How do you balance creativity and wearability?
Wearability is not a limitation, but a prerequisite. If a design does not function on the body, it cannot be considered complete. Creativity gains meaning only after passing through real conditions of use, movement, and repetition.

How do you see the future of fashion?
From my perspective, fashion will continue to move closer to technology and systems design. Clothing will evolve into an interface that integrates structure, intelligent materials, and adaptive functions, expanding beyond aesthetics into applied design and wearable infrastructure.
