"Everything we create at Sœur & Frères comes back to three words: Timeless. Tailored. Together."
How did you become interested in fashion design?
Fashion has always been part of my life – it actually runs in the family. My grandfather founded one of the first denim laundries in Morocco, and growing up, denim was always around me. What started as family heritage eventually became my own story. Sœur & Frères was born from a desire to continue that legacy while creating something that felt personal, modern, and built to last. Denim isn't just the fabric I work with – it's the language I know best.
What's your design philosophy?
Everything we create at Sœur & Frères comes back to three words: Timeless. Tailored. Together.
I don't believe clothing should have an expiration date. I design pieces that feel effortless today and just as relevant years from now. Every silhouette is carefully considered, with a focus on exceptional construction, quality fabrics, and flattering proportions. I'd rather someone own one pair of jeans they wear for ten years than ten pairs they forget after one season.
What's your process for designing a new collection?
It usually starts with a feeling rather than a sketch.
Sometimes it's an old photograph, a vintage pair of jeans, a trip, or simply someone walking down the street wearing something interesting. Then comes the fabric, which is probably my favorite part. Finding the right denim is everything. Once the fabric feels right, I work closely with my team to develop patterns, test washes, adjust fits, and keep refining until the piece feels unmistakably "Sœur & Frères."
The first sample is almost never the last. Denim teaches you patience.
What's your favorite type of clothing to design?
Jeans. Always.
I think I'm on a lifelong mission to create the perfect pair – the kind you reach for every morning without thinking, that somehow works with everything, and gets even better with time. Denim is deceptively simple – every pocket placement, seam, rise, and wash changes how it feels on the body. That's what makes it so fascinating.
How important is sustainability in your designs?
It's at the heart of every decision we make.
We produce in Morocco using 100% cotton fabrics, including recycled denim, and manufacture in facilities that meet internationally recognized certifications such as GOTS and OEKO-TEX®. But sustainability isn't only about certifications – it's also about creating clothing people genuinely want to keep.
The most sustainable garment is the one you never feel the need to replace.
