      ALMA DOS MARES is a Panama-based jewelry brand transforming ancestral craftsmanship into modern heirlooms. Designed by a certified artisan and inspired by a childhood memory - a luminous fish scale found on a beach walk - the brand reimagines marine beauty through the lens of fine design.

      Each piece is handcrafted using traditional Panamanian techniques, especially temblequería, a 200-year-old artform historically linked to national dress. ALMA DOS MARES refines this heritage with a contemporary edge: semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, gold plating, and ethically sourced fish scales become statement earrings, tiaras, and wedding pieces that honor both ocean and origin.

      Awarded the Artisan Excellence Exporter Prize in 2018 and invited to the 2025 MOLA Sustainable Fashion Week, the brand stands at the intersection of cultural preservation and design innovation. Every ALMA DOS MARES creation is a wearable story - of memory, craftsmanship, and the soul of the sea.

      What's your process for designing a new collection?
      We research a variety of ideas related to Panama's history and culture, looking for story fragments that can provide us with specific inspiration. We collaborate closely with a group of writers, artisans, and painters to create a new beginning. This process can take about six months, during which we refine mood boards, color palettes, and wearable styles.

      How do you handle criticism of your designs?
      Our product today is the result of a critical review process involving perspectives from different continents. Thanks to this, we consider our products well-suited to customers everywhere. We see criticism as an essential part of our DNA and a driving force for continuous improvement.

      What's your favorite season to design for?
      Alma Dos Mares collections are inspired by the vibrant energy of spring and summer.

      How important is sustainability in your designs?
      Sustainability is at the core of our designs. Every piece begins with careful research into materials and techniques.

      What's your favorite project you've ever worked on?  
      One of our favorite projects was participating in the Florida Bridal Show during our early days. It was a three-day event where we showcased our products to hundreds of brides-to-be, many of whom saw them as truly unique. We turned it into a family vacation, bringing everyone along – including my son.
