"My brand is built on three pillars: identity, empowerment, and conscious creation. I believe in honoring tradition while embracing modernity, designing pieces that not only look beautiful but tell a story. "
How did you become interested in fashion design?
My passion for fashion design began with my African roots. As a child, I was deeply moved by the emotional resonance of African fabrics and the way the women around me wore capulanas with such creativity and pride. Though I originally pursued a career in Health and Safety Engineering, the call to fashion was stronger. In 2015, I presented my brand on Shark Tank Portugal, gaining public attention and solidifying my path. Today, fashion is not just art for me—it’s a tool for cultural affirmation and empowerment, especially for African and diasporic women.
What’s your favorite thing about being a fashion designer?
I love being able to tell stories and evoke emotions through the garments I create. Fashion, for me, is about blending African fabrics with contemporary European silhouettes to celebrate identity and womanhood. The greatest reward is seeing someone wear my designs and walk a little taller, smile a little brighter—knowing that what they wear empowers them.
What’s your design philosophy?
My brand is built on three pillars: identity, empowerment, and conscious creation. I believe in honoring tradition while embracing modernity, designing pieces that not only look beautiful but tell a story. Fashion is emotional, expressive, and transformative. Every collection speaks of heritage, femininity, and resilience—like our "Legacy" collection, which celebrates the brand’s 10-year journey. I also emphasize ethical practices, working with African artisans and sustainable materials.
Who are your design influences?
I’m inspired by African culture, the women around me, and the soulful process of creating with intention. While I draw deeply from my heritage, I also admire designers like Stella Jean and Dior—brands that design with identity and meaning.
What’s your favorite material to work with?
African fabrics are my absolute favorite—rich in culture, color, and symbolism. I love transforming them into contemporary, luxurious fashion pieces. I also enjoy working with natural materials like silk, linen, and structured cottons to create elegant contrasts.
