Rooted in India and handmade by artisan communities, JIWYA’s garments are zero-waste, compostable, and produced in limited editions with a soil-to-soil ethos. Founded by textile scientists Aishwarya Lahariya and Adhiraj Shinde, with degrees from Cornell, NC State, and ICT Mumbai, the brand merges scientific rigour with ancestral craft to offer conscious couture as heirloom. With full supply-chain transparency and impact metrics shared per piece, JIWYA delivers fashion as statement, story, and systemic change – designed for those dressing with depth.

"I feel colours from the soil also touch the soul. I choose shades that I can dye through plant ingredients like flowers, leaves, fruit peels. They always surprise me!"

Aishwarya Lahariya, JIWYA
MINI INTERVIEW

What's your design philosophy?
Fashion is a way we express our bodies. My design philosophy is simple, my designs should allow the wearer to express their being to the fullest. I am a textile scientist by expertise, self taught as a designer. The two find a balance in my work.

What's your favorite material to work with?
I love working with Kala Cotton, it is a variety of cotton that grows in drought prone fields. It has a natural texture and rawness to it that I love exploring with my designs.

How do you choose colors for your designs?
I feel colours from the soil also touch the soul. I choose shades that I can dye through plant ingredients like flowers, leaves, fruit peels. They always surprise me!

How important is sustainability in your designs?
It is the key aspect of my designs. From materials to the final stitch. I only design using 100% plant-based materials and I design for the piece to last a lifetime. Wearability and creativity go hand-in-hand in my designs.

What's the most important accessory in a wardrobe?
A Cotton White Dress, preferably A-line. It can be styled endlessly and can be worn to any event day or night!

How do you handle the business side of fashion design?
It is an ongoing journey, I learn something new everyday. How I work is, I try not to dilute my design and sustainability through learnings of the trade.
