Sylvia Piechulla
MINI INTERVIEW

What's your design philosophy?
My design philosophy is to make mid-size and plus-size women stand out for all the right reasons—at any occasion. I create pieces that celebrate their curves, combining chic, contemporary style with luxurious comfort. Every garment is thoughtfully crafted to empower women to feel confident, beautiful, and effortlessly elegant.

What's the most expensive material you've ever used in a design?
I love working with silk satin, especially featuring our exclusive prints. Its luminous finish, intense color vibrancy, and fluid drape make it the perfect luxury fabric. Naturally breathable, hypoallergenic, and soft against the skin, silk satin offers comfort and elegance, creating garments that feel as exquisite as they look.

How do you choose colors for your designs?
Color is the soul of my creations. I am captivated by bold, joyful shades that celebrate individuality and strength. Often, I craft my own prints on luxurious silk, blending artistry with elegance. Each color and pattern is chosen to make women feel vibrant, powerful, and unapologetically seen.

How important is sustainability in your designs?
Sustainability is at the heart of Sylvia Piechulla. Every piece is designed and made in London with a slow fashion ethos — small batch production, minimal waste, and timeless versatility. We use local sewing services committed to fair wages, craft garments to order for extended sizes, upcycle fabric offcuts into new designs, and ensure nearly zero waste. Our packaging is recyclable, shipping is carbon-neutral, and we offer a garment return program for repairs or reuse. We partner only with ethical suppliers and are committed to transitioning to more eco-friendly fabrics by 2030. To combat microplastic pollution, we provide a microfilter wash bag with every polyester garment purchase. Choosing Sylvia Piechulla means investing in luxurious, sustainable fashion that empowers women and protects the planet.

What's your favorite type of collaboration?
I love collaborations that share a unified vision and enhance the beauty of each brand’s designs. I'm currently collaborating with an incredible jewelry designer from Los Angeles who creates stunning, plus-size gemstone pieces — a perfect complement to my fashion collections. For a collaboration to truly succeed, I believe it’s important to align on values, aesthetics, and price points to reach and inspire a shared audience. Ultimately, great collaborations should amplify the strengths of both partners without overshadowing either. Looking ahead, I would love to work with wide-fit shoe designers to further expand the world of inclusive, luxury fashion for plus-size women. Together, we can make every detail — from head to toe — a celebration of style, confidence, and inclusivity.
