JUAN PABLO MARTINEZ

Juan Pablo Martínez is a friendly brand from Bogotá, Colombia, that questions and reinvents the way clothes are made, guided by sustainable and responsible principles. It helps women relate to their clothes in a new fashion and most important allows them to build and express their identity, unique and incomparable. By transforming how garments are manufactured (dead stock, artisan handmade, end of roll, zero waste, local fabrics, upcycling) and worn (season less designs, neutral colors, strong construction) costumers relate to their clothes and reinforce their personalities in an exciting new way while leaving a better world for their children.

"Being a Metalhead is a way of dealing with life, accepting yourself as you are and establishing yourself as unique, and that’s what I convey with my work, in every garment."

Juan Pablo Martinez
MINI INTERVIEW

We understand that your collections are eco conscious, do you have any long-term objectives in terms of sustainability for Juan Pablo Martinez?
Yes. I want to leave a better world for my children and your children. They do not need to suffer for our bad decisions and our irresponsibility. Our parents were not conscious, but we are, so there is no excuse.

In which way your passion for music, especially Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, influences your designs?
It’s in the back of every piece I make. It’s not obvious and at the forefront, but being a Metalhead is a way of dealing with life, accepting yourself as you are and establishing yourself as unique, and that’s what I convey with my work, in every garment.

What is the biggest learning experience you have had?
Dream, keep on dreaming, never stop; turn that dream into a goal, then get someone to buy your dream.

What is the most rewarding part of being a fashion designer for you?
Client’s smiles when they try on my clothes and decide to buy.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
“I still wear your clothes.” Many times, thankfully.
