PODYH is a Ukrainian womenswear brand created at the intersection of architecture and fashion. The brand's main idea is to reconsider the architecture, approaches and techniques of architects through clothing and accessories.
PODYH was founded in 2021. The designer of the brand - Daria Plaksyuk - graduated from school of architecture. Positioning it at the crossroads of architecture and fashion, the architectural background collaborates greatly with the aesthetics and meaningfulness of the brand’s designs.
Similar to buildings devoid of the unnecessary aesthetic "noise" of advertising posters, PODYH wares are not oversaturated with details, color, or decor.
Each element is justified, corresponds to the idea, and creates a complete composition of volumes and lines. Inspired by outstanding architects of the past and present, who often involve artists and sculptors to enrich the object with details and give it a feeling of completeness, the designer pays excellent attention to handwork - even slight hand-made stitches make the thing more meaningful and valuable. #supportUkraine
"This is a child's dream. My grandmother worked in a garment factory. When she took me to the production, I was very impressed and from that moment on I never left the thought of being in such an atmosphere again. "
What is your favorite part about being a designer?
I love working on bags and accessories. By creating them I can fully apply my architectural background - from history of architecture, composition, and prototyping, to strength of materials and construction technology.
Do you wear your own - PODYH designs?
Of course! I wear all the items from the collections, but most of all I love PODYH bags, I always have one of them with me.
When are you the most inspired?
Architecture is my biggest inspiration. Walking around the city or seeing some interesting architectural object on the Internet, I immediately begin to think about how it can be reconsidered through clothing, its shape and material, what techniques and details to use to convey not only the appearance, but also the techniques and approaches of architects, the spirit of the era.
What are your social media addictions?
I think like most, there is an addiction to Instagram. For me, this is to switch attention and relax, but I would like to get rid of this addiction and find another type of relaxation.
How would you describe your artistic style?
Working on each collection, I am inspired by a certain architect, architectural style or era. I really like to work with constructivism, modernism and brutalism, where there is no unnecessary decor, each element corresponds to the idea and creates a complete composition of lines and shapes.
