What's your favorite thing about being a fashion designer?
What I love most about being a fashion designer is having a real platform to express my creativity and connect with people. What started as a hobby evolved into something much bigger, and I realized that creativity isn't limited to design—it extends to business and life as a whole. That realization made me even more passionate about what I do.
What's your design philosophy?
My design philosophy revolves around clean, streamlined silhouettes, free from unnecessary details or clutter. I'm inspired by Einstein's quote: 'If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.' I apply this principle to my work, ensuring that every piece from Kaiane Designs enhances and highlights the wearer in the best possible way.
What's your favorite material to work with?
I really enjoy working with silk because of how beautifully it captures light and flows over the body. I’m also drawn to lace, guipure, and intricately beaded fabrics, which showcase rich artisanal craftsmanship. For summer, another one of my favorites is ramie—it’s perfect for the season.
How do you choose colors for your designs?
Choosing colors for my designs feels a lot like creating a painting. Colors and shapes are the language of design, and certain shapes naturally complement certain colors. Typically, we start by selecting a color palette for the collection, then refine the designs to highlight the best combination for each piece.
What's your favorite season to design for?
I enjoy designing timeless, classic pieces that can be worn year-round. However, when it comes to seasonal collections, Spring/Summer is my favorite, particularly with a focus on resort wear.
