What's your favorite thing about being a fashion designer?
The cool thing about being a fashion designer, for me, is that I can transform everything I perceive from the world—whether for better or worse—into creations, making beautiful and cool pieces in the process.
How important is sustainability in your designs?
Sustainability is more than just a concept or responsibility; it is an actionable response to the challenges and issues faced by the industry. Incorporating sustainability into my designs is a way of communicating with society and exploring the connection between society and nature. For example, I created the raincoat in the unique style of CLEAR TO RAIN using biodegradable TPU to develop a waterproof fabric.
How do you balance creativity with wearability in your designs?
I believe that creativity and wearability are not two contradictory directions; instead, they are two essential elements of fashion. This belief stems from the idea that fashion is about people. Therefore, at the start of every collection, I always focus on selecting or developing fabrics that provide comfort, which I then integrate into the design.
How do you stay inspired?
I enjoy doing a variety of things to keep my mind open and to stimulate my ideas and imagination through art, books, music, and film. Meanwhile, I believe life itself is the greatest inspiration.
How important is collaboration in fashion design?
Fashion is always about community; collaboration and working together can achieve more dreams and are key to driving fashion forward, fostering greater creativity.
How do you see the future of fashion?
From my perspective, fashion is always a reflection of society. It encompasses all aspects of lifestyle, personal spirit, art, economy, and even politics. I believe technology will exert an increasingly pervasive influence on fashion, whether in the industry, the creative process, or in shaping styles and trends.
