What's your favorite thing about being a fashion designer?
My favorite thing about being a fashion designer is the entire process of research and conception. I love translating an idea into something wearable, from the initial spark of inspiration to the detailed research and conceptualization. It's incredibly fulfilling to see a vision come to life through creati vity and craftsmanship.
What's your process for designing a new collection?
My process for designing a new collection begins with taking some time off to allow myself to become obsessed with something new. Once I find that spark, I dive into extensive research and start drawing out my ideas. From these sketches, I focus on the technical details to ensure the jewelry is comfortable and wearable. I then create prototypes, which are 3D printed, and make any necessary adjustments. This iterative process continues until the jewelry matches my vision perfectly. Finally, I print the model in the final material, bringing the design to life.
What's the most challenging aspect of being a fashion designer?
The most challenging aspect of being a fashion designer for me is ensuring that the entire creation and production process is made in France. Additionally, the most significant challenge is finding ways to make everything sustainably, which can be quite demanding. Considering sustainability often slows down the entire design process and makes it more expensive, but it is a crucial aspect I am committed to. Balancing these priorities while maintaining the quality and integrity of the designs is a constant but rewarding challenge.
How important is sustainability in your designs?
For me, sustainability and ethics are essential aspects when designing a collection. The idea is also to create jewelry that lasts and can be passed down from generation to generation. Being aware of where the materials come from, how the jewelry is made, by whom, and under what conditions is essential to me.
How do you balance creativity with wearability in your designs?
To me, it is an interesting challenge to figure out how I can design something visually pleasing and interesting but still wearable and comfortable. The idea is to combine wearability and creativity to design a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also wearable and comfortable. This balance is an integral part of the creative process. When I start thinking about wearability, it pushes me to be even more creative. The goal is not to simplify the design or make it less complex, but to advance the idea and take it to the next level.
