What is your design philosophy?
Every piece we birth carries a strong message for our ladies - of love, hope, achievements, celebratory and even bittersweet memories. We desire for our ladies to feel and connect at sight and touch of our pieces while feeling and looking beautiful. We believe our jewelry is meant to complete and invoke both quiet and bold personalities from within and out.
What is your process for designing a new collection?
It starts with a style or a theme aligned with stories that celebrate the multi-hyphenate ladies. Our fundamentals of creating meaningful pieces can be seen through the shape, form or vibe, as well as the choice of gemstones and color of our glass beads that have symbolic meanings. As part of the design process, research is carried out at best to ensure our designs are unique - adding desirability for the ladies that tells of their exquisite taste and appreciation of thoughtful designs. Each of our collections would have a balanced mix of classic, bold and in-betweens across types of studs, dangles and hoops to cater to different preferences. If the design allows, variations with colors with different semi-precious stones and colored glass beads offering more options to the ladies. Our process involves both sentimental and creative thought platforms to create jewelry that are more than just a pretty object of affection - they become talismanic and symbolic to the mistress of the piece.
How do you handle criticism of your designs?
We openly and objectively receive feedback as long as it's constructive. Our ladies give a fresh perspective from their standpoint, which can be very interesting and beneficial. We love hearing their suggestions and are thankful that it stems from their love and appreciation of our work. And there are times when negative criticism can be neutralized by justifying our stand in a polite tone that ends in a harmonious outcome.
What is your favorite season to design for?
Every season and no season! We design pieces you can wear for any season because jewelry completes your outfit, they add a sense of wholeness and the power of individuality. We enjoy the notion that our pieces can be worn for any occasion that transcends season or trends.
How important is sustainability in your designs?
As a slow brand, JeannieRichard’s intentional designs are aligned with our personal beliefs of being responsible in all we do - we are all interconnected and our actions impact one another.
Our made-to-order model maintains the supply order that ensures zero waste. All our pieces are handsewn in-house by ourselves allowing full control on quality, including procurement of non-toxic metals and ethically sourced pearls and precious stones - carbon footprint is kept to a minimum.
Recycled paper is our fundamental requirement for our packaging, which is designed by us in mind of it being a keepsake; every JR Lady cherishes the tote box and pouch that comes with every JeannieRichard order.
We love what we do and we make good meaning of our work, the positive vibrations are sublimely imbued into the manifested pieces for our ladies to become part of their lives.
