Mini Interview with Elif Akaydin

Why is artisanship such an important component for your creations?
I believe the whole creation process that an artisan goes through is also a very spiritual journey a self-discovery. The value of making beautiful things with one's hands is priceless, I observe our artisans when they are in making, they go into a zone with positive intensions it is magical!

What are the inspirations for your handbag creations?
Nature and art have a big effect on me, I observe children, their colorful world, how they see things around them, the way they express themselves is inspirational. I always search for handcrafting techniques in diverse cultures for example we used “tambur beading “technique for our recent collection called “Bonus Fortuna”, it means “Good Fortune” in Latin. Each symbol that we hand-beaded and hand- embroidered symbolizes strength, passion, love, and good fortune.

What are the stories you would like to share with your customers behind each creation?
Patent of Heart is brand on a mission to raise awareness for women education and empowerment.
As a young girl, I was fortunate enough to be raised by my parents and grandmother who ingrained in me the importance of finding my independent voice through formal education in a country that was not provided to many women back then.
With that in mind, Patent of Heart, passionate about pledging to donate a portion of its profits to foundations providing education to girls.
