Where do you look for creative inspiration?
As my sister and I always say: ‘Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’. Inspired by the late 80's, we usually draw our new ideas from women sensuality with the help of an internal impulse. Before creating the new collection, we usually go for a trip (both of us - it’s the main condition) and record in our memory every single thing from the outside world, that touched our souls. In most cases, our gaze stops at a woman passing by: a smiling woman, a worried woman, a focused woman, a relaxed woman, a devastated woman, a resourceful woman. Each of them is a unique masterpiece of the Universe and deserves to be admired. We pass through our inner states their fascinations and excitements, in order to find out this universal key to reveal the femininity and inner light of each of them.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
We always love when someone tell us, that we are very similar. It’s like the main source of power for both of us to have a chance to exchange our sister energies. It was on our vacation in Paris, probably one or two years ago, one women wanted to make a photo, it was very spontaneous and we do not have a time to prepare (girls know what I mean:) ), so we were just smiling and making this photo shot. Then she told us: ‘You are similar, like two drops of water. Do not loose each other. You are all you have got’. So inspiring and warm words, we will be thankful for these words for aye.
Black or white?
Black and white, we do not want to limit ourselves in choosing only one colour. The real beauty has no limit, no time and no space. We always go with the flow.
How would you describe your KRIS MARAN’s aesthetics?
To describe with three expressions: Minimalistic approach, Tactile game, Strict and Seductive lines of the female body. Known for its minimalist approach, statement coats and well-cut suits, the brand is all about tactility with a clear focus on textures and fabric. Collections are created using deadstock textile and sustainable fabrics. With our factory located at the same location where the headquarters are, the brand supervises the quality of each seam, test and implement sustainable fabrics and innovative techniques in manufacturing process.
What do you love about being a fashion designer?
We were always excited about the fact that the fashion itself is a unique and powerful tool that allows you to make a statement with no words. To transmit the way you see the world and even influence social and political part of humanity.
What is your spirit animal?
It’s a very significant question, because me and Kristina were experiencing the Shamanic journey to find out our power animals recently. For me it’s a white she-wolf, Kristina’s animal is a black horse. That’s why we can not choose only one colour.
